The trade name of Allopurinol is Generic Zyloprim. Generic Zyloprim Allopurinol is a prescription drug that is employed to decrease elevated levels of uric acid in the body that can give rise to gouty arthritis (gout) or renal calculus (kidney stones). Uric acid is a white insipid inodorous crystalline product constituted from the decomposition of particular proteins in the system. It is found mainly in the blood and urine. If your system can't get rid of the uric acid quick enough, it gets deposited in the joints and tissues where it makes crystals. Generic Zyloprim Allopurinol falls into a group of medications known as xanthine oxidase inhibitors.
